His therapy style is strengths-based and collaborative, ensuring clients feel supported every step of the way. What does balance look like in your life?
Balance is very important to me and my practice. Because of this, I strive to live in alignment with my values: courage, compassion, and curiosity, which also match those of KLS. Moreover, I believe that finding your own truth and authentic self requires all of these values.
Additionally, I check in with myself regularly and pause to ask, “What is important to you right now?” This simple question helps me decide whether to reach out to family or friends, focus on my career as a therapist, or care for my body through exercise and sleep. In this way, reflection becomes my compass for living a balanced life.
What was the spark that led you to become a therapist?
I became a therapist because, during key moments in my life, I struggled to find guidance, direction, or a safe space to process my challenges. Therapy became a powerful tool that helped me discover meaning and purpose—not just in my personal journey, but also in my work as a therapist.
One of the most fulfilling parts of my role is sharing in others’ unique experiences and collaborating to help them find their own sense of meaning. This ability, along with my deep commitment to supporting others, is what inspired me to become a therapist. As a Filipino-American, I recognize that there are not many therapists from my background, and I hope to offer a unique perspective for those seeking someone who truly understands their experiences.
How do you unwind?
During my spare time, I enjoy surfing at the Rockaways, climbing at my local gym, running and biking in Prospect Park, practicing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and, most of all, spending a lazy Sunday with my American Bulldog Zoey.

Life lessons
As a Filipino-American therapist, I’ve learned the importance of balancing cultural expectations with personal well-being. Growing up in a community where family, respect, and resilience are core values, I’ve faced the challenge of honoring those traditions while also embracing individuality and self-compassion.
Perspective
When I face a challenge, I focus on my values to help me navigate uncertainty. This approach allows me to find meaning in tough situations and see challenges as chances to grow.
To do this, I need a clear sense of purpose and an awareness of my own resilience. This is the same mindset I encourage in my work as a therapist, helping others build strength and confidence in difficult times.
